Sustainability Overview
While Port Coogee meets the high sustainability standards set by the Western Australian Government and the City of Cockburn, Australand’s approach to sustainability goes way beyond a tick-box exercise.
It’s all about creating a community with a strong economic base, a focus on people and initiatives to protect our planet now and in the future.
Key sustainability elements of the Port Coogee plan include:
Economic
Attracting $1 billion worth of investment to the Cockburn region over the next 20 years – a significant boom to the local economy
Generating 1,200 jobs over the next 20 years – creating genuine opportunity for local people.
Environment
Cleaning up a former industrial wasteland
Enhancing and protecting the coastline and local vegetation
Reducing potable water by 50 per cent per household
Reducing energy consumption by 50 per household
Social
A pulsating Marina Village with public boating facilities, shops, entertainment areas, cafés and community services
Innovative urban design that encourages walking, cycling and public transport
Safe and easy access to public parks, jetties, fishing platforms, boardwalks and the waterfront
